Abstract: Information technology has catalyzed the creation of new forms of communication, self-expression, and collaboration. The distributed cognition enabled by social networking, podcasting, and videoblogging aligns well with the habits of today's learners. And, with the Web as learners' information universe, no learner is ever far from information resources. This presentation explores how well education is keeping pace with user expectations, IT capabilities, learning principles, and cultural shifts.
